Stephanie McKenzie

Stephanie McKenzie (she/her) is a third-year Indigenous PhD student in York University's Clinical Developmental Psychology program. She is a registered member of Opaskwayak Cree Nation in Northern Manitoba (The Pas). She earned both herĀ  Master of Arts degree (MA) and Bachelors degree (BA, Hons) degrees from York University. Her research has focused on First Nations youth identity development, sex trafficking prevention, community violence prevention, Indigenous program evaluation, and the impacts of trauma and colonialism. Stephanie approaches research through a strengths-based, holistic systems perspective and is deeply grateful to have been invited to work alongside and learn from Indigenous research partnerships across Canada. For her dissertation, she plans to explore the role of Inuit youth-Elder connections in supporting mental wellness.
